2014 Tea Rose Stakes Betting Update

September 18th, 2014

Just eight three-year-old fillies have been confirmed to line up for this weekend’s Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick Racecourse, offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning bet.

Having charged home to secure an impressive first-up victory in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) at Randwick last time out, classy Chris Waller-trained filly Winx has been backed into favouritism for the 2014 Tea Rose Stakes, cutting in from odds of more than $3 to currently register as outright $2.25 favourite and clear market mover.

Yet to be defeated in just three competitive starts so far, Winx debuted with an exceptional turn of foot to take out a minor over 1100m at Warwick Farm on June 4th before repeating the dose in the TAB Early Quaddie Handicap (1400m) on June 28th.

Allocated the ideal barrier 2 for the 2014 Tea Rose Stakes, Winx has been confirmed to be partnered by original rider Jason Collett and is still very much worth consideration for a bet at current odds.

Suffering a shock defeat at the hands of Winx and fellow Tea Rose acceptor Alpha Miss in the Furious Stakes first-up, talented Godolphin filly Earthquake is yet to receive much more than a sprinkling of bets for success this weekend and therefore continues to offer punters great value for money.

Without doubt the standout performer of the two-year-old season over autumn, the Exeed And Excel filly followed up a comfortable first-up victory in a minor with three impressive black type wins; taking out each of the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m), major Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Reisling Stakes.

Unable to handle the rain-soaked Rosehill surface when suffering her first racing loss to Mossfun in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) on April 5th, trainer John O’Shea is confident Earthquake will return to peak condition on a far-firmer track this weekend.

Also yet to experience much attention from punters in Tea Rose Stakes betting markets, Sultry Feeling has cut in from an opening quote of $11 to currently register at odds of $10 for success on Saturday; registering as sole occupant of the third line of betting.

Finishing third in the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) most notably over four starts in autumn, Sultry Feeling returned to racing this time in with an impressive three length victory at Canterbury on August 20th before running on for fourth in the Furious Stakes last time out.

A stable mate of last weekend’s Golden Rose champion Hallowed Crown, Team Cummings is confident the Encosta De Lago filly’s work completed over the last fortnight will translate into Tea Rose Stakes success this weekend, and is more than worth consideration in betting markets at current odds.
