2010 Tea Rose Stakes Final Field and Preview

September 17th, 2010

There is just one day to go before the 2010 Tea Rose Stakes jumps. The final field has been named, and features nine quality runners. Though, two horses in particular are expected to produce quite a showdown in this Group 2 event.

More Strawberries will go up against rival, and Tea Rose Stakes favourite, Parables in a rematch of sorts. The two went up against one another in the recent Furious Stakes (1400m) at Randwick. While it was a satisfying victory for Gai Waterhouse-trained More Strawberries, Parables had a difficult starting position to overcome. Running in the second from the outside position, the Peter Snowden-trained filly still managed to take third place.

Snowden is sure his filly is capable of besting the Furious Stakes winner. Thanks to a fantastic barrier draw, he is certain to get his chance. Parables will be jumping from number two with jockey Corey Brown in the saddle while More Strawberries is right next door in number three with Jim Cassidy aboard. It seems punters are behind the Snowden filly as well. She is listed at 2.25 odds to win, slightly ahead of More Strawberries at 2.70.

Other stayers to watch in the 2010 Tea Rose Stakes include Tim Martin’s Fibrillation. The horse is fully recovered from the elevated temperature that prevented her from appearing in the Furious Stakes, and is expected to do well in this 1500 metre event. Ambers Waltz is sitting in barrier number one, which is likely to result in a placing.
