Nominations for the 2010 Tea Rose Stakes have been announced, and 15 stayers will be competing for a chance to claim their share of the $175,000 purse. There are a few days until the Tea Rose Stakes jumps, which gives punters out there a bit more time to brush up on the form of these contenders.
Tim Martin is one of only two trainers that has multiple nominations in this upcoming race, though the most buzz surrounds Sasa. The filly is being touted as a future Group 1 threat with an impressive run from barrier 15 in the $1 million Group 1 Golden Rose in late August. Stable mate Fibrillation has been given the all clear to run the Tea Rose Stakes after an elevated temperature forced Martin to pull her from the Furious Stakes.
Gai Waterhouse-trained More Strawberries has also been nominated. The three-year-old brown filly is expected to do well in the 2010 Tea Rose Stakes as she took the win in the lead up Furious Stakes on September 4. Jockey Nash Rawiller was able to get the horse up on the speed out of the gate. Watch for the same tactics to be used in her upcoming appearance in the Tea Rose Stakes.
Trainer Peter Snowden’s Parables has also been nominated for this final leg of the Princess Series. The three-year-old filly recently won the Silver Shadow Stakes and placed third in the Furious Stakes.
The 2010 Tea Rose Stakes is set to run at Rosehill Racecourse in Sydney on Saturday, September 18. It is part of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival.
